Roland Roy, Jr.
Lower Township Councilman – Ward 3
Roland has lived in Lower Township with his wife, Melissa, for more than 29 years and have raised there two children there. Although retired, Melissa and Roland own and operate a long-standing family business, the VIP Motel in Wildwood Crest. Roland has helped his wife operate this seasonal business since 2001, which is when he retired from the Wildwood Police Department after 27 years of service. During his time with the Wildwood Police Department he served in many capacities – on elite squads, as a detective of major crimes, on the Accident Investigation Unit, Patrol Sergeant and squad supervisor, to name a few. He joined the Holly Beach Volunteer Fire Company in 1974 and became its President in 1982. He is still an active volunteer with that company. He also serves as Trustee of the City of Wildwood Fireman’s Relief Association, Delegate to the New Jersey State Fireman’s Association and a Charter Member of Cape Classic’s Motorcycle Club – serving as its President since 1995.
Roland is grateful to have had the opportunity to serve residents as a police officer and volunteer fireman, and proud to have served on Lower Township Council over the past two years. During this time, he has observed first-hand the importance of good government. Ever on my mind is the health, welfare, and safety of our residents and visitors, while still being committed to spending our tax dollars wisely – and reluctantly.
The GOP, “Grand Old Party,” first took roots in 1854 with a small group of dedicated abolitionists gathered to fight against the expansion of slavery and in hopes of starting a Party dedicated to freedom and equal opportunity.
